Mount Shasta ready for Fourth of July

For many people, Mount Shasta is the one and only place to be on 4th July, America's Independence Day. This is a time when the whole city opens the doors for a huge celebration like no other. This year’s 4th of July celebration is anticipated to fill downtown roads for 3 days starting from 4th July to 6th July.

It will begin with a huge bang as a whole lot of people will hit the streets on the 4th July morning for the thirty-fifth annual Run and Fun Walk. Registration starts at 6:30 am and the race will start at 8:30 am.

This will be the very first year when the race wound not be emceed by Jim Parker, who started “the largest small town walk in America” in the year 1980. He reigned as race director following the event last year. The organizers of the race are also missing Marcia Smith's leadership - this is the person who did several tasks to make sure that Mount Shasta’s big celebration came off without any problem.

With entertainers as well as a series of food along the path, people would also be handled to entertainment wandering through the crowds. The grand prize of Mountain Runners raffle this year is a Subaru Impreza from Redding Subaru. All proceeds from this event will go to beautifying the Mount Shasta.

That afternoon, people who will take part in the race, will go to the sides of the roads to relish the Fourth of July parade, that is themed - Outdoor Recreation. The parade will start at noon. Floats, nonprofits, businesses, vintage cars, horses, fire engines, police cars and many more will hit the streets, throwing out candy.
